Join us for an afternoon of Dorset Seaweed and Seashore Foraging.
IMPORTANT: THIS EVENT IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE BY CAR. LOCATION EAST DORSET. THE DATE FOR THIS EVENT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WHEN WE CAN CONFIRM TIDE TIMES, AND THEREFORE PROVIDE YOU WITH THE BEST EXPERIENCE.
After meeting near Chesil Beach at 12pm, we will head off for an afternoon of beach and seaweed and seashore foraging, gathering various edible seaweeds at low tide as well as hunting for wild rocket, sea beet, sea radish and many other plentiful foreshore plants and delicious coastal growing edibles. During this event we will be sampling various different wild foods but not doing any cooking. We will be exploring a couple of locations and various different types of terrain, some quite rocky. When booking please be advised..the beach locations we are headed for are about 20 minutes from Weymouth station so if you do intend to come by train you’ll need to arrange additional transport from the station and arrive with plenty of time to spare..”tide and time wait for no man”.
Please be advised before booking, some of our forays may not be suitable for people with mobility difficulties so if in any doubt please email me in advance. In addition, please be aware that although these events run for approximately 3 hours, that could easily turn out to be 4 hours instead, so I urge you not to book a posh lunch somewhere timed precisely to coincide with the end of the walk, give yourself plenty of leeway.
