After meeting at 12pm at Chesil Beach we will be exploring a couple of very different coastal environments, firstly some estuary and seaside foraging picking samphire, wild spinach and numerous other delicious edible plants, then gathering seaweeds at low tide. Later we will have a beach cookery class with Fraser Christian from Dorset’s Coastal Survival School followed by a massive wild risotto, using many of the ingredients we have gathered, with drinks to finish. The food we prepare will be suitable for vegetarians (we won’t be collecting any shell fish on this event…it’s the wrong time of year).

IMPORTANT THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE BOOKING.
We will be covering various different types of terrain, some quite rocky so if you are at all unsure about this, or have any mobility issues, then please email me before booking.

The beach location we are headed for is about 20 minutes drive from Weymouth station (which is about 3hrs direct from Waterloo, or a bit longer to drive). If coming by train, then please expect to get a taxi from outside the station which will cost an additional £15 each way. We are governed by the low tide so if your train is delayed, you will possibly miss the seaweed gathering part of the day. Obviously, this is beyond my control so please book the earliest train possible.

This course finishes at approximately 4.30-5pm but I can not be specific and we may run over especially if we all have full bellies, are enjoying each others company, the weather is nice, the drink is flowing etc.
